Sunday Muse #143

Greets, dear Musers, it's me, Fireblossom, your prodigal girl. I haven't written anything in weeks and it's about time to change that. You with me???

I think the general mood, with all the insanity going on in the world, has been difficult and down, so let's back up and change it up, what do you think?

This week you get a choice. We are looking back at old Hollywood and a make-believe world that nevertheless lifts our spirits and touches our hearts. You can write for the image (Tracey Powers as Mary Pickford) or you can go completely off the deep end and use the video I'm providing. At the least, watch it to catch the mood! Happy writing!

  1. Shay, I love your picture pick. Our 11-year-old granddaughter composed a dance routine that she then taught us. One of the pauses used a looking back, at the boy partner, to see if he was leaving or what all. Hers had no words but was done to a tune she had on her iPhone. The couple walked off together at its end. Needs a poem, only if I could.

    1. Our mothers, your grandmothers (?? I am old), would have loved seeing this video. I loved it also. My dad sometimes said my mother had been a "flapper".

    2. My mother wasn't much on loving anything. My dad, though, would have liked the clip. :-)

  2. Hmmm... Gale-force winds, the rain is blowing horizontal, and the dog refuses to go out but instead just whimpers. Lessee, happy-happy. Poetry asks much of us!

    1. Doesn't have to be happy-happy. Whatever the image says to you.

    2. You mean that one brief part of the clip where they have cones on their noses? Or you mean making out with handsome Hollywood men. I've never tried that, but I guess a first time for everything.

  7. Funny, I wrote the first few lines of this days ago but didn't know where it went, so I let it sit there. The rest came as I thought about these amazing images. Resonant poeting - thanks for the inspiration!

    2. I snapped that photo in Luca Italy days after Trump was elected ... the Italians were unbelieving he had been elected. Thought we had lost our minds (and heads.)
