Sunday Muse #255

Happy Weekend Writers! We haven't had a true theme in a while, so I decided to theme it up this week! It probably doesn't need a complete introduction but the subject is musicians that are poets. Let the action in the image be part of your muse, it doesn't have to be specifically the person.  I say, just move to the beat of your muse and dance your heart out!

Have fun everyone!

💘Carrie

Patti Smith

Jim Morrison

Art Garfunkel

Leonard Cohen

John Lennon

Joni Mitchell

Portrait of Alicia Keys in support of the feminist movement by Zoltan Tombor.

  1. Thank you for some excellent visual prompts! I will likely be writing to these fir several days, so many wonderful poetic souls to delve and admire — but I had no choice but to start with Joni… 🙂✌🏼🫶🏼

  2. Nice choices today. The only one strange to me is Patti Smith. She was into punk rock and I wasn't a fan of that at all. We both started our early lives as factory workers. She got me there fast, and one of her poems contained the line, "I was his savior" which clenched us. I've known closely two of those intimately, rescued me, they were/are six and two years younger than me. A few others tried.
But since I don't know her songs I'll probably try out John Morrison. But I'm going back to bed now. BTE, I have a son, a drummer for years for a a hard rock band, he now lives in Montgomery (TX), they have been playing since the 1970's late and still get a few paying gigs.
Enough, too much. Yes, I'll probably choose Morrison later for here.

    1. Oh yes, Paul McCartney has published a two volume book of his lyrics. I've walked past his house in London, near their first recording studio on Abby Road, our daughter lived catty corner from that corner, for five years. We visited a couple of times each year.

    2. You have lived quite a fascinating life Jim and yes there were many other musician/poets I could have featured. I love that your son was in a band. Did you all ever go see him play?

    1. Thank you Shay! The project I kept talking about that was bogging me down was partly doing a blog post for our county library system that was about this subject. I might share the link in a comment below. I hope you have a good weekend my friend. (((((((S)))))))

  8. Thank you, Carrie.

Sang so much of Joni... and expected Janis Joplin to be there too. So... went playing with songtitles.

On tuesday my eyes will be seen to. Can't wait. Tired of trying to see through a blur.
I won't be around next weekend. Meeting up for camping with my veteran and parachute friends.

Have a great time all. Take care!

  10. Cut my own hair,
    write my own songs,
    books of travels,
    heartaches, and people
    i have known. Too much
    talent gone from
    our lives. Many never
    reached my age. I wonder
    what they might have created.
    Met Janis at The Chelsea-
    nicknamed her, Pearl.
    What type of music
    would she be belting
    out now? My life
    contains joy,
    and much sadness.

(Sara McNulty). Sorry to post here, but computer problems continue.
