Sunday Muse #150

Photography by Romain Thiery

(Abandoned in an old forgotten villa in France)

Welcome Musers!  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!  I have always been fascinated by abandoned photography; the capturing of the forgotten and left behind. It speaks so much of the tragedies of life and tells stories that fill the empty places.  I hope this one speaks to you as well.

  3. Beautiful prompt image Carrie — so much soul! It put me in mind of a pianist who played for me in my band for more than a decade. The entire picture resembles a familiar scene of a piano, that sat in the atrium, at the bottom of the staircase, in of our big old Victorian house. It was located in the former upscale but aging Walnut Hills area of Cincinnati. It looked down right onto the city. DaVied would play it frequently. He has sadly passed on, and I wrote the early draft of this piece a few years ago to honor him. He was a fantasy freak! This prompt encouraged me to dig out that draft, and finish the piece and post a link to it. DaVied man was a dear friend.

    1. Thank you so much Rob. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, even if it was years ago. I know how wounds like that never truly heal.

  7. This photo was a tease to me, a good choice, Carrie. I didn't write in the shadow of my blind grandfather's demise. Nor any of my BIL's piano tuner and repair adventures. Instead it was of a continuing childhood romp. That I covered over so my writing did not appear to be personal.
